RULES AND REGULATIONS

State of New Mexico Regulations

The State of New Mexico requires that all hunters have a valid New Mexico hunting license.  Non-resident shooters can purchase a day permit for upland game birds only.  In addition, all persons under the age of 18 are required to have completed an approved HUNTER EDUCATION course.  

Tinnin Hunt Club Rules & Regulations

In an effort to maintain the highest safety standards, the following rules and regulations must be observed:

  1. Hunters must have a current State of New Mexico hunting license.
  2. Hunters shall practice safe gun handling procedures at all times.  
  3. If hunting with dogs, hunters shall maintain strict control of their dogs.
  4. There shall be no littering on the club property.
  5. No alcohol consumption shall be allowed before or during a hunt while firearms are in use.  
  6. No refunds shall be issued unless deemed appropriate by ownership and management.
  7. Non-hunters shall remain in a designated area as prescribed by the Owner/Manager.  Flight pens are restricted areas.
  8. Hunt only the species you have contracted to hunt.
  9. Owner/Manager reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
  10. Hunters shall not pursue game outside their designated area.
  11. Every reasonable effort will be made by hunter to pursue and claim downed game within the designated area.
  12. Blaze orange clothing will be worn at all times with hunting upland game birds.
  13. Hunting shall cease when the birds contracted have been harvested.
  14. If for any reason a hunter harvests more game than contracted for or of another species than contracted for then hunter shall pay on a per bird basis the posted price by management.  
  15. Cleaning of game shall be only at designated areas.
  16. Guns shall be stored in vehicle when not in use.
  17. All guns shall remain unloaded at all times except when in the designated hunting area.
  18. All persons under the age 18 shall show proof of Hunter Safety Course completion.
  19. Birds shall not be shot on the ground or near dogs.
  20. All spent shells shall be picked up.

Tinnin Hunt Club reserves the right at any time to ask anyone to leave the premises for such causes that management may determine to be in the best interest of others.  If a person is asked to leave for any such reason, no money shall be refunded.

Sporting Clay Rules & Regulations

  1. Think “safety first and always”.
  2. All shooting will be conducted according to the rules and regulations set forth by the National Shooting Clay Association, copies of which are available upon request.  
  3. When not on station, your gun must be empty and the action left open.
  4. Only one shooter on station at a time.
  5. Load only when on station and only after the shooting area is secure.  Keep loaded and unloaded guns pointed in a safe direction at all times.
  6. Load only one shell for singles, two shells for doubles.
  7. Gun position in relation to the shoulder shall be clearly visible under the arm and mounted only when the bird is launched and visible.
  8. To call for a bird, shooter should ask, “Is trapper ready?” The call “Pull.”  The target or targets may be launched instantly or may be delayed as much as three seconds.
  9. Children must be under close supervision by adults at all times.
  10. Ear and eye protection must be worn by shooters and spectators at all times.
  11. No one allowed in restricted areas or off pathways at any time.  
  12. Please no littering.
  13. All empty hulls on ground are property of club.
  14. Tipping of trappers is discretionary.
  15. Paired Target Definitions:

“Report pair” – a pair where the second target is launched at the sound of the gun firing at the first target.  

“Following pair” – a pair where the second target is launched as soon and as safely possible after the first target, from the same trap.

“True pair” – a pair where both targets are launched simultaneously.

Failure to follow these simple rules and any unsafe and unsportsmanlike conduct will result in the shooters removal from the shooting grounds.

Hunting Seasons

Upland Game Birds can be hunted from September 1st-March 31st.  All other hunts are in accordance with the State of New Mexico Hunt Proclamation.  Sporting Clays, 5-Stand, Wobble Trap, Shooting Game Trailer, Archery, and Fishing are year-round activities.
